Last week, Tuesday I tried to go swimming, but apparently the indoor pool at the gym closes when there is thunder and lightning outside. I still do not understand the logic of this, but I guess there must be a chance of harm if they have to close it…
Wednesday I traveled east to my parents house, and by the time I got there, it was pouring out, so I did not end up getting any workout in.
On Thursday, I ended up running 4.5 miles in the rain with my mom. It was pretty good to run around the block, I had never done that before and felt very accomplished to have completed it!
On Friday AM, I met my Aunt Barb at the Saratoga Battlefield and rode about 11 miles there with her, using my new bike shoes and clipless pedals – without any crashing!! It was great! I got home from that bike ride, and decided I should try to get a second bike ride in while the weather was decent. I ended up riding 15 more miles around, which was great but I was definitely tired afterwards…
On Saturday, I ran the Firecracker 4 with my cousin Jess. (Results). This shows a time of about 10 seconds longer than actual start time since we were in the back and the chip timing was started all at the same time… I ran the entire thing without stopping, so that was good. Just too bad my timing was only 20 seconds faster than last year when I walked and ran during the race.
Sunday, I got up and rode my bike 10.5 miles, then I ran 3.5 miles.
So overall, I got quite a bit of exercise in even though the weather was not the best over the weekend.
