It’s been eight years since I tried to pickup the guitar, and I have now taken the plunge and decided it’s time to get back at it! Playing the guitar (and playing semi-decently) has been an item on my bucket list for the past 10 years, so today after a not so fun visit to my dentist, I picked up my new Ibanez and have been avoiding my homework ever since!
I have affectionately named her Izzy, and while she is not the first guitar I’ve purchased during my life, I do believe she is the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever brought home from the store (I’m sure you’ll instantly agree when you see her picture below). She is a black slender profile guitar with the ability to plug in for when I’m feeling the need for a little more fun! (I’m considering her the LBD of the acoustic world.)
After bringing her home, we had a little learning session this evening. I’m feeling pretty good about it, haven’t lost touch with using a metronome and I’ve already got 5 chords memorized and the ability to play a few simple songs (think nursery rhymes). Not a professional yet, but hey – everyone has got to start somewhere, right?!
Needless to say, Izzy helped me forget about my miserable time spent at the dentist today and she also let me avoid homework for the evening – which I’m going to consider a good thing for now… As for my on-going drive to learn guitar, stay tuned!
